Itinerary

Departs 7.30am returns 6.00pm

From 1st March 2010, there are extensive roadworks on the highway to the Mountains. This is creating long delays going up to the attractions. This tour of the Blue Mountains is by the Grand Circle route out through Richmond and Bilpin along Bells Road to the east and returning late afternoon back through Katoomba along the Great Western Highway when the work ceases for the day.

You travel in a 14 seat Mercedes Benz Mini Coach up into the this World heritage Area for a small personal tour experience.

We cross the Harbour Bridge around 7.30am to arrive at Featherdale Wildlife Park arriving  8.15am to 8.30am. At this time we are before the crowds and you have 1 hour to wander this excellent compact park, teeming with Australian Native Animals.

You have the Park to your self and at this time of day the residents, all native Australian animals, are at their best. You can pat the kangaroos and wallabies, get a photo up close to a koala, check out the wombats, Tasmanian Devils or take a look at the crocodile together with an extensive  Australian native bird collection.

You continue your Grand Circle Tour of the  Blue Mountains Tour travelling through  the Historic township of Richmond and follow the Bells Line of Road up along the east side of this World Heritage area stopping for a coffee break and a chance to try the locally baked fresh apple pies at Bilpin, a stone fruit and apple growing area area.

We continue through rugged bushland covered in Australian Eucalptus Trees. Past Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens to the deserted village of Bell and then winding down the old stage coach track to the forgotteh village of Hartley Vale, famous in the 1870s for producing Shale Oil.

We stop at the quaint historic 1830's sandstone Village of Hartley forever preserved by the National Trust and National Parks.

Next we return up over Victoria Pass to Mt Victoria and on to Blackheath, Australia's Rhodendrum Capital, and to Govetts Leap a fantastic lookout with views for miles and miles.

Next we stop at Katoomba at the Scenic World Complex for the cable car and scenic railway rides. (Note that on one tour these are included.) Your tour guide will explain the various cable car options. Rides are $10 each way. You can purchase your own tickets. The BM6 tour include 2 rides and the most preferred option is to take the Scenic Railway down and the Cableway back up again. They are great fun and children love them. (See Scenic Railway/Cable Car details)

Lunch is at the three Sisters Heritage centre where there is an excellent easy walk on to the Three Sisters formation (20 mins easy walk)

On the way down we have a coffee stop at Leura, and stop at Wentworth Falls when the magnificent falls are running after good local rains.

There is another stop to view an ancient aboriginal rock carving of  kangaroo said to be 1000's of years old.

One of the last lookouts we visit is Flat Rock lookout. This is time permiting as we have a busy schedule with so many things on the itinerary. This experience standing on a windswept rugged cliff top lookout at Kings Tableland overlooking the Jamison Valley is fantastic. Here you will find aboriginal markings and spear sharpening grooves on the sandstone rocks and you will have the added benefit of some great photos as you soak up the views of the this World heritage area.

Our return to the city follows as it is well into the afternoon. We return through the Olympic Village and for those who have chosen this ferry option  to board a Rivercat Ferry down the Parramatta River passing under the Harbour Bridge, arriving into Circular Quay at 6.00pm where your tour concludes.

The bus continues into the city to drop off the rest of the passengers to their hotel and pick up locations between 5.30pm and 6.00pm

July 2009
We joined the Blue Mountains tour last July 10.  We just got back from Australia last night and we need to inform you of the great time we had. Our guide was Nigel. The weather was bad to begin with but from the start, he assured us that bad or good weather, we need not worry because he will make sure it will be worthwhile. Nigel was very assuring and very accommodating to our needs. He tried really hard to make the most out of the rotten weather. In the end, God must have rewarded us and the weather turned nice and sunny and we all enjoyed the trip.Next time we visit your country, we'd like to go to Hunter Valley and request for Nigel to be our guide again. We will write a review about this tour, your company, and Nigel in Trip Advisor.Thank you.
