7.30am returns 6.00pm

This unique “Grand Circle Route” Tour in a smaller Mercedes Benz Mini Coach (max 17 seats) travels to the Blue Mountains along one route, the Bells line of Road and returns via another, the Great Western Highway which is the main road through the Mountains

This alternative route avoids the road works on the main highway together with a lot of traffic and tourist buses.

Our tour departs the city around 7.30am stopping at  Featherdale Wildlife Park at 8.15am. This is home to only Australian Native Animals and birds where you can feed the kangaroos and have a Koala photo. Our Visit takes 45 mins to 1 hour.  Check out the website at

We follow the Bells Line of Road through Richmond. This is a beautiful road with much less traffic, passing through the mountain village of Kurrajong and the fruit growing region of Bilpin stopping at the quaint village of Mt Wilson with beautiful tree lined streets. The trees here are massive with a top soil depth over 30m (100 feet) Site of Extinct volcano. This village has some of the best gardens anywhere in Australia and attracts loads of people every autumn and spring for the open garden scheme. Check out the website

We will be visiting the stunning garden at Windyridge, an absolute showpiece.  Check out their website.    We have morning tea in the cool climate gardens and an easy walk exploring this unique property sculptured for all seasons.  We have a relaxing 1 hour visit. The Blue Mountains at their best!

We will also see the destruction caused by the October 2013 bushfires and the amazing regeneration of the eucalyptus forests.

Next we continue to Bell and Mount Victoria before turning back towards Sydney for our lunch stop at Blackheath.  We have a Picnic Lunch with sandwiches and fresh local fruit at the picnic area of Govett’s Leap overlooking the Grose valley and Bridal Veil Falls. Check out the website of Blackheath at

Next we travel on to Katoomba, home of the Three Sisters where we stop for a photo and then on to Scenic world, one of the busiest attractions in Australia. There are cable car rides and a scenic railway ride all at the one location. The 545 metre journey gently descends into the Jamison Valley and also returns visitors to the top of the escarpment. The Cableway’s fully enclosed cabin provides a unique vantage point for viewing the Three Sisters, Orphan Rock, Mt Solitary and Katoomba Falls.

Take the easy short stroll along the raised board walk (see photo in revolving collage on the home page) through a temperate rain forest with the old coal mine still on a great visual  together with the old coal trucks and other information and displays. We also take another short walk to the base on the Katoomba Falls.(see photos on Home page) more details at their website

On our return to sydney we may stop at the village of Leura for a walk around this vilaage and have a coffee.

We continue on back towards Sydney stopping at the Homebush Bay Wharf (near Olympic Park) to catch a ferry down the Parramatta River back to city under the Harbour Bridge arriving back at Circular Quay. There are a number of ferries from the sleek fast Rivercats to the larger and slower Captain Cook ferries. Note we do not guarantee which ferry but will have you on one of them. The Rivercat ferry arrives at Circular Quay at 6.25pm. The larger ferry is more sedate arriving at 6.40pm.

Just a quick note to thank you guys very much for the Blue Mountain tour Theresa and I did last Wednesday. Keith was a magic tour guide – giving us some great yarns, showing us some amazing spots but also letting everyone have their space at each stop. His  Aussie accent and colloquialisms kept everyone amused especially the Americans who thought he was just wonderful.

We were especially pleased with the small tour bus and we both commented that we would not like to be part of the big coach tours that we saw around. We’ve always been sceptical of guided tours but this was fantastic. He even ensured that we were in front of the queue to board the ferry to so we could get the best seats.

Thank you again – next time we’re in Sydney we will be doing the Hunter Valley tour – and will definitely call Sydney Wilderness Tours – we will also recommend you to our friends.

 Best Regards

Dave Davies
