Blue Mountains Scenic World Rides

The Scenic Skyway floats on air in the Blue Mountains

The Skyway cable car glides out across the Katoomba falls, taking you on a 720 metre journey across the valley. Looking down through the glass floor gives you a breathtaking view 300 metres straight down to the floor of the valley below.   As you gently sway in the breeze you pass over ancient ravines and Jurassic rainforests and the Katoomba Falls. The word Katoomba is aboriginal for shining falling waters.

The 360 degree bird's eye view from the Skyway takes in the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, Mount Solitary and the never ending expanse of the Jamison Valley.  Nowhere else in the world can you experience this thrill! In 2012 a new cable car was installed and known as the yellow peril with a glass floor. Great if you feel squeamish.

The Scenic Railway Ride is the steepest incline Railway in the world

First constructed in 1879 the Scenic Railway Ride descent is 415m. It has a 52 degree incline and with some “Raiders of the Lost Ark” music playing you disappear over the edge through a cliff side tunnel down into an ancient rainforest.   Although only a short journey it is exhilarating and lots of fun. Children love it! From here, you are free to discover the Scenic Walkway, a raised timber walkway, and walk through the ancient rainforest  past the old coal mine relics to the base station of the Cableway Cable Car.The Scenic Railway can carry up to 84 passengers and operates every 10 minutes. In 2013 a brand new train was built and it is better than ever with recling seats to add to the fun.

The Scenic Cableway is the steepest aerial cable car in the Southern Hemisphere

The Scenic Cableway takes you on a 545 metre ride into or out of the World Heritage listed rainforest of the Jamison Valley.  Once at the bottom, you can take the Scenic Walkway to the base of the Scenic Railway.  In all, there are nearly three kilometres of elevated boardwalk.  It carries over 80 passengers and runs every 10 minutes. There are some great views of the Three Sisters. There is a magnificent feel when you drop over the edge of the cliff and the ground disappears. A great feeling!!

Return can be on the Cable Car or return up on the Scenic Railway.
